Week 28 – The Other Half

This was another great week of running. The weekday runs continue to go smoothly and I’m able to focus more on the Saturday long runs.

I didn’t want a repeat of last Saturday’s disappointing run, so I got out early yesterday just after the rain stopped and finished my 12 miles before it got too hot. For the first time in a long time I had to focus on not going too fast, but I kept the early miles under control and my average ended up within 15 seconds of my target.

More importantly this week’s 24.96 miles pushed me over the hump to 509.78 for the year, just over half way to the finish line. I always get a boost crossing the midpoint on a run because no matter how many hills are ahead, I know it’s always shorter to keep going than go back.

Crossing 500 also means it’s time for a 100-Mile beer. I’m celebrating this milestone with a Schofferhofer Grapefruit, dedicated to Sharon. This German radler (shandy) is 50% grapefruit and only 2.5%. Perfect on a hot day and worth a shot if you’re looking for something new. Cheers!

There are four more 100-mile beers up for grabs. Find out how you can claim one by supporting me. Prefer to pledge without the beer? You can do that too!
